Terminals business
Terminals Pty Ltd was established in 1960 and is owned by ANZ Terminals Pty Ltd which also owns four terminals in New Zealand through Bulk Storage Terminals Ltd.
Terminals Pty Ltd is an independent operator of bulk liquid and gas storage facilities with plants located at major ports throughout Australia. The first facility, comprising tanks of total capacity 5,400m3, was established at Melbourne in 1961. The business has since grown to provide over 153,000m3 of storage and handles over a million tonnes of bulk liquids each year. Terminals have facilities at Coode Island (Melbourne), Port Botany (Sydney), Corio (Geelong) and Osborne (Adelaide).
Terminals Pty Ltd provide a service to a number of industries associated with the chemical, fuels, petroleum, pharmaceutical, mining and fats & oils industries. The range of services provided include the transfer of liquid products to and from bulk ships by pipeline, storage in bulk quantities, loading and discharge of road tanker trucks, filling and labelling 200 litre drums, and on some occasions, blending products to clients' requirements and transferring product to and from ISO tank containers.
Products handled include non-hazardous liquids, liquefied gasses and dangerous goods of Class 2.1 (Flammable gases), Class 3 (Flammable liquids), Class 6 (Toxic liquids) and Class 8 (Corrosive liquids). As the major part of our business is derived from the chemical industry, we are critically conscious of the need for handling our clients' products in a safe and secure manner which minimizes the risk of personal injury, contamination, spillage and damage to the environment.
Terminals Pty Ltd is a fully accredited under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for all its sites except Adelaide. The company has a history of establishing community consultation groups and takes seriously its role in providing information to the community and responding to any concerns or questions from the community.
Terminals Geelong site
Terminals Pty Ltd has a long term lease on a 9.36 Hectare parcel of land from Toll Geelong Ports Pty Ltd at Corio in Geelong, adjacent to the Shell Corio refinery. The site was established in 1973 to provide vital infrastructure to support manufacturing Industry in Victoria. Initially established to support PVC manufacturing the site now handles inputs for plastic bottle manufacturing, the paint, printing, dairy and pharmaceutical industries and a wide range of other manufacturers. Storage capacity at the site is 27,770m3 in 16 tanks with an annual throughput of around 200,000 tonnes from around 35 ship visits per year.
Recently the Geelong site has attracted new business that are now either under construction or pending approval, as set out in the table below. Expected total throughput on completion is anticipated to be 376,000 tonnes per year from around 53 ship visits per year.
